Do you ever feel like you don’t have enough storage space? Even after our yearly spring cleaning, sometimes it just doesn’t seem like it’s enough. The best way to increase your storage space and declutter your home is to utilize your wall space and add shelving. The best part is that there are so many different shelving options out there to accommodate your needs and style. Different rooms also require different types of shelving. Here are some of our favorites for each room of your home:
Kitchen
Sometimes a kitchen’s cupboard/storage space can be lacking. Add shelving to open wall space whether that be above a countertop, above a sink or on an empty wall. You can also add bars or hooks underneath the shelves to hang pots and pans or coffee mugs.
Dining Room
Dining rooms are commonly one of the least used rooms in the house. If you don’t have enough space in your kitchen you can add shelving such as the picture above to not only add décor to your home but also store some of your glassware that you don’t use as often.
Living Room
Shelving in your living room can vary based on the size, layout and your personal style. These are just a few of our favorites but you could place shelves almost anywhere; behind your couch, around your TV, on an empty wall or if you have a more open home layout, use a free standing shelf.
Master Bedroom
Who said shelves have to be symmetrical? Decorative shelves can add charm to your room as well as hold your books and knickknacks.
Kid’s Bedroom
Inspire your child’s creativity with fun shelving to hold all their toys, books and coloring supplies. Shelving is great for organizing the plethora of toys they accumulate.
Office
Home offices can get pretty messy if you don’t have enough storage space. Piles of paper can fill up your desk space. Use shelving to stay organized and keep your desk clutter free.
Bathroom
Bathroom shelving is extremely useful if you don’t have enough space in your medicine cabinet. You can find shelves to fit in even the tiniest spaces to help you store your toiletries.
Garage
Organize your garage with shelving so you can fit your car in your garage like you always wanted to. You could also use shelving to create a workshop and keep your tools neat and organized.
Closet
Closets are a great place to hide our messes but what if we had a way to organize them and make the most of the space? Shelving in closets is imperative and in most it’s usually lacking. The best way to choose shelving for a closet is to determine what you’re storing in it and how it needs to be stored.
Laundry Room
Wire shelving as pictured above can be perfect for the laundry room to store your soap and stain remover so they don’t get in the way. Organizing your laundry supplies will not only declutter your laundry space but allow you to do your laundry more efficiently.
The most important thing to remember when choosing shelving is that you can find shelving to fit your needs and your personal preferences. If you have a shelving project that you need help with, call HandyPro today to have one of our professionals give you a free in home estimate.
